The Associate Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts (PPGAV UFPB / UFPE) was created through a broad association between the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). development of researches in / on Art and attending the considerable demand for Strictu Sensu Post-Graduation courses in Arts / Visual Arts in Northeast Brazil.
Its objectives are to enable the training of researchers and the qualification of personnel to work in the field of Visual Arts and its teaching, with the capacity to plan and execute activities related to research, teaching and extension, with openness to interdisciplinarity and transversality of the knowledge.
The egress of the Program will be a researcher in Visual Arts, being able to develop research activities, associating them with teaching, production and cultural mediation and other specificities of the field of Visual Arts.
The Master will be under the alternate coordination each year in the two associated institutions, working one year in the UFPB and another in the UFPE, being thus, the General Coordination and General Vice-Coordination and the Local Coordination and Local Vice-Coordination will belong to each one of them for the same period. The Institution headquarters of the General Coordination of the Program will be responsible for the selection of students, enrollment, offer of courses, orientation activities and issuance of diplomas to students.
The Master's Degree in Visual Arts PPGAV UFPB / UFPE works since 2010, with annual entries. The course is offered free of charge and access is made through a public selection process. It has CAPES social demand grants, guided by criteria established by the agencies and / or by the Program Collegiate.
The institutional objectives of the Program are:
a) to train researchers who, quantitatively and qualitatively, attend to the expansion of teaching research in the area of Visual Arts;
b) qualify specialized human resources in the area of Visual Arts;
c) to enable teachers and researchers to plan, develop and carry out activities related to research, teaching and extension;
d) stimulate the production of knowledge relevant to the history, theory, processes of creation and teaching of Visual Arts.
The PPGAV UFPB / UFPE is, above all, an academic training program for research and focuses on Teaching Visual Arts. From a broad understanding of education involving research in history, theory, criticism, artistic poetry and visual arts teaching.
