EFOPLI starts development meetings of 2018
BACK TO PORTUGUESE
EFOPLI began this Friday, March 16th, the Professional Development Meetings for English Teachers of the first semester of 2018. In this first meeting, the speaker Ana Flora Ferreira from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) addressed the topic 'How to Get Away with Smartphones in the Classroom'.
For the teacher Ana Flora "the experience of giving this workshop to EFOPLI teachers was sensational. Seeing diverse classroom realities interacting and having different ideas, sharing their experiences, was very enriching, and certainly the participation of the teachers was essential for the good progress of the workshop. I just want to thank the participants and the EFOPLI team."
Teacher Maria Manuela Costa from the city of Mamanguape commented on her impressions of the first meeting: "It caught my attention the way everything is conducted by students and teachers. It made me want more. Another positive aspect is this space for interaction and the construction of knowledge through playful actions in the meeting, actions that generate a beneficial impact on our development."
The teacher also spoke about how the meetings can help her in her professional development: "(About) my level of English for conversation: for years I taught Spanish. I am in the second term of my English language course. In spite of having graduated in Bilingual Secretarial Studies, we did not have much conversation practice in class. This teacher development opportunity will add to my professional life... at this point it will help me improve my ability to listen and speak." Finally, the teacher highlighted the topic that interests her and which she would like to be discussed in future meetings: "A theme to be discussed is how to teach everything we are learning to students with visual impairment."
EFOPLI's weekly meetings will continue this Friday (03/23/18), from 08:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
