The thermal, light, acoustic and air quality variables, as well as non-ionizing radiation, are conditioned factors to provide the welfare, safety and, consequently, the quality of the activities performed by the individuals.

The project "ANALYSIS OF THERMAL COMFORT AND PERFORMANCE IN THE ENVIRONMENT OF TEACHING WITH VIDEO DISPLAY TERMINALS (VDT): MULTICENTER STUDIES IN THE NORTHEAST OF BRAZIL AND NORTH OF PORTUGAL", funded by CNPq and coordinated by Professor Luiz Bueno da Silva, has the following objectives:

  • Identify the cognitive functions used during the learning process;
  • Apply tests that assess cognitive performance in different air temperature ranges;
  • Compare the performance due to thermal comfort between the northeastern regions of Brazil and northern Portugal;
  • Compare the students' thermal sensation ratings and those determined analytically through the ISO 7730/2005 model.

Ana Isabele Neves and Cláudio Falcão, members of LAT, were received at the School of Technology and Management of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ESTG-IPP) by Professor Paulo Antero de Oliveira, for the collection of data.
