Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB) is a higher education institution dedicated to teaching, researching and extension activities. It is bound to Brazil's Ministry of Education and is funded by the taxpayers' money invested by the State. It is, therefore, a state-run, public, tuition-free university. It was created in 1955 by the State Government of Paraíba and it was turned into a federal university in 1960.
The International Office (AAI) -- created by Resolution no. 257, in 1979 -- works to keep active relationships and manage academic coorperation agreements with foreign institutions. Such agreements provide for joint activities, such as the mobility of students, researchers and faculty, publications, researches, events, internships, visiting periods and courses.
In November 2016, the UFPB International Office has 77 active agreements, be they Memorandums of Understanding or Specific Agreements, many of which provide for the mobility of undergraduate students. To know more about academic cooperation agreements, click here.
